ESG compliance

Ensure your company stays ahead of regulatory deadlines with our ESG compliance scan and step-by-step guides for regulations like CBAM, EUDR, ESPR and PPWR.

Our approach

01

CBAM

As part of the broader EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) imposes a new carbon levy on imports across six high-emission sectors: iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen. Companies importing these goods into the EU must monitor and report their embedded carbon emissions or face increased tariffs, rising costs, and closer regulatory scrutiny. We help importers prepare for CBAM and stay compliant through tailored support in carbon reporting, risk management, and long-term decarbonisation.

02

EUDR

The EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) aims to curb the EU’s role in global deforestation by regulating high-risk commodities like timber, beef, cocoa, coffee, soy, palm oil, rubber, and their derived goods. Products tied to deforestation may be banned from the EU, with penalties up to 4% of annual turnover. To prove the deforestation-free origin, companies have to create a Due Diligence Statement (DDS) and store reference numbers. We help businesses achieve EUDR compliance through our step-by-step guide for supply chain mapping, due diligence, and risk mitigation. Deforestation and biodiversity loss are no longer just environmental concerns, they are becoming material risks for companies and their supply chains. We are here to eliminate those risks and help you build a resilient supply chain, ready for the future.

03

ESPR

From understanding regulatory obligations to implementing circular strategies, we support businesses become compliant with the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and further the EU’s transition to a circular economy. From 19 July 2026 onwards, the ESPR sets new sustainability requirements on nearly all physical products, prescribing resource and energy efficiency, durability and recyclability, as well as a mandatory Digital Product Passport (DPP) that stores key environmental data and demonstrates transparency and circularity. In addition to the ESPR, regulations such as the Construction Products Regulation and Batteries Regulation also include requirements for the DPP. Non-compliance can result in penalties and limited market access. On the path to compliance, we help your company map material flows, collect product data, and build a DPP, while guiding you to become more circular and leverage sustainable opportunities through innovation and smarter product designs.

04

PPWR

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) sets binding, EU-wide rules for anyone that produces, fills, imports, or distributes packaging. The PPWR requires all packaging to be accompanied by a technical file and Declaration of Conformity (DoC) from 12 August 2026 onwards, and to be fully recyclable by 2030. It introduces minimum recycled content targets for plastic packaging, bans certain single-use packaging formats, sets targets for minimisation, refill and reuse, and lastly tightens rules on the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Non-compliance can result in fines, higher EPR contributions, and denied market access in the EU. We help your company achieve PPWR compliance by assessing your packaging portfolio, mapping material flows and recycled content, and identifying recyclable and reusable packaging alternatives, so you can reduce packaging waste, control costs, and turn circular packaging design into a competitive advantage.

Frequently asked questions

Why is ESG compliance important for your business?

ESG compliance is essential for protecting market access, preventing costly penalties, and building trust with regulators, investors, and customers. With EU regulations like CBAM, EUDR, ESPR, and PPWR, companies must meet high standards for transparency, sustainability, and responsible sourcing. Acting early avoids rushed, expensive adjustments and helps position your business for ESG-conscious tenders and partnerships. Strong compliance also signals resilience and leadership in an increasingly regulated market.

Which regulations apply to your business?

The most relevant ESG regulations depend on your company size, products, activities, and sector. CBAM applies to companies that import (more than 50 tonnes of) cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, or hydrogen, EUDR applies to companies placing cattle, wood, cocoa, soy, palm oil, coffee, rubber, or derived products on the EU market, the ESPR starts with batteries, electronics, iron and steel, aluminium, textiles, tyres, furniture, and mattresses, and the PPWR applies to importers, manufacturers and distributors of packaging. Other EU regulations, national laws and sector-specific standards may also apply. Our ESG compliance scan identifies all current and upcoming obligations so you can act strategically, invest efficiently, and stay ahead of evolving requirements.

When should you start with ESG compliance?

The best time to start is now. The definitive phase of the CBAM starts from January 2026 onwards, the ESPR and PPWR have their first requirements beginning on 19 July and 12 August 2026 respectively, and the EUDR has its deadlines on 30 December 2026 for medium-sized and large operators and 30 June 2027 for micro and small operators. As such, several of these regulations already impose requirements on EU companies. Preparation often takes months, involving data collection, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and improvement. Starting early helps you avoid the risks and costs of last-minute compliance, as well as ensures your organisation meets all regulatory demands before the relevant deadlines.

Do you offer guidance with other regulations than the CBAM, EUDR, ESPR, and PPWR?

Yes, our guidance extends well beyond CBAM, EUDR, ESPR and PPWR. Depending on your company’s size, sector, products and activities, we can support you with regulations and directives such as the CSRD (and VSME), SFDR, CSDDD, EU Taxonomy, EU ETS (I and II), Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (ECGT), Green Claims Directive (GCD), Batteries Regulation and Waste Framework Directive (WFD), as well as many national laws. Because the regulatory landscape is broad and constantly evolving, our ESG compliance scan is a good foundation for your company’s compliance trajectory: it identifies the current and upcoming requirements that apply to your organisation and translates them into clear priorities and practical steps towards compliance.
