Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about this service. Is your question not listed? Get in touch, our specialists are happy to help you further.

Am I required to have a Data Protection Officer (FG / DPO)?

That depends on the nature and scale of your processing activities. Organisations that process special categories of personal data on a large scale or monitor people structurally are often required to appoint a DPO. Even without a formal obligation, a DPO-as-a-Service can be worthwhile if you have many privacy questions or work in a heavily regulated sector.

What is the difference between a GDPR compliance check and a GDPR audit?

A compliance check is usually a baseline measurement: we look at where you stand in relation to the GDPR obligations and which improvements are needed. A GDPR audit goes deeper into how things work in practice: do teams follow procedures, is work done in line with policy and have controls been demonstrably carried out? The two can reinforce each other.

Can you also help with drawing up processor agreements and privacy statements?

Yes. We help set up or update processor agreements, privacy statements and internal privacy policies. In doing so we make sure legal texts match how your organisation actually works, so that agreements are workable too.

How do your GDPR services relate to information security (e.g. ISO 27001)?

Privacy and information security are closely linked. Many GDPR requirements are about appropriate protection of personal data. That is why our GDPR services fit well with processes around ISO 27001 or other security frameworks: we make sure privacy requirements and security measures reinforce each other instead of creating duplicate work.

How much time does a GDPR process take for our organisation?

That depends on your starting point and your ambition. A compact quick scan can be carried out in a few weeks; a full framework and implementation process often takes several months. We tailor the approach to your size, risk profile and available capacity, so that the process stays feasible alongside day-to-day work.

Do you also help with incidents, such as data breaches?

Yes. We can support you in assessing and handling data breaches: impact analysis, the obligation to notify the regulator and data subjects, improvement measures and communication. We also help translate lessons from incidents structurally into better processes and measures.
