Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about this service. Is your question not listed? Get in touch, our specialists are happy to help you further.

Do you issue the ISO 27001 certificate yourselves?

No. The certificate is always issued by an independent, accredited certification body. We make sure that your organisation has a certifiable, audit-ready ISMS: with policy, processes, measures and evidence that meet the ISO 27001 requirements. That way you go into the certification audit well prepared.

What is the main difference between "advice about ISO 27001" and your approach?

Many organisations receive a list of recommendations and then have to work it out themselves. We combine advice with hands-on support. We not only help think through what is needed, but also help with actually writing, setting up and testing the ISMS. The aim is not a report, but a working, certifiable system.

How much work is left internally for our own team?

You always remain the owner of the ISMS: you take the decisions, we guide you. That means we do ask time of your key people (IT, security, HR, operations, management), but we take away as much pressure as possible by supplying structure, templates and content. That way you make the best use of your knowledge of the organisation and our knowledge of the standard.

Can you also reuse or tighten up existing documentation?

Yes. We prefer not to start with a blank page. Existing procedures and records can often be reused. We assess what is usable, where adjustment is needed and what has to be newly developed, so that you do not duplicate work.

How do you help with choosing the certification body?

We can help you think through the selection of a suitable certification body and support you in preparing the quotation and intake phase. The final choice remains yours, but we help wherever we can.

What happens after obtaining the ISO 27001 certificate?

ISO 27001 requires annual surveillance audits and recertification every three years. We can continue to support you after the first certification as well, for example in carrying out the annual risk assessment, internal audits, management reviews and implementing improvements. That way your ISMS stays alive and the certificate remains more than a snapshot.
